The August 6, 2008, The Walt Disney Company announced that the Toon Disney channel , which transmitted the block Jetix U.S. would be replaced by Disney XD the February 13, 2009, and that the mark "Jetix" would no longer be used in the United States. The canal was eventually replaced on Friday, February 13, 2009 by Disney XD throughout the United States. While the brand is not used much of its programming is still broadcast on the new channel.
In late 2008 it was announced that The Walt Disney Company had begun plans to launch Disney XD in Latin America and Japan replaces version Jetix and Toon Disney , respectively, of the regions. The changes would be made in 2009. It was also announced that the company had started the purchase of all shares of Jetix Europe NV for future change.
On February 16, 2009 it was announced that France would be the first European country to be Disney XD. Jetix France was replaced on April 1, 2009.
